Meeting #1: Community CAP Kick-Off
Date: Tuesday February 13th at 10am / Thursday February 15th at 12pm
This kick-off meeting will provide an overview of this cohort, what is required to create a community climate action plan and what focus areas should be included.
Homework for next meeting:
- Look at your community GHG inventory and the emissions in each sector. What is your highest emitting sector/s? Create a list of big actors who can help influence emissions in each sector.
- Create a list of actions that have been done or are ongoing in your community. (This work to be completed in the planning tab of your initiatives spreadsheet).

Using the list you created of existing programs, highlight initiatives from the spreadsheet to be included in your CAP. This list is not exhaustive, if you have additional ideas for initiatives include them now. (This work to be completed in your initiatives spreadsheet).

Meeting #3: Prioritizing CAP Initiatives
Date: Tuesday April 9th at 10 am / Thursday April 11th at 12pm

We will split into small groups to do a high impact action prioritization exercise using Google jamboards. Factors to consider when prioritizing actions include cost and securing funding, emissions reduction potential, job creation, existing partnerships, and more.
Homework for next meeting:
Use the jamboard (completed in today’s meeting) to start finalizing initiatives to be included in your draft CAP. Come to office hours with at least one focus area complete. Bring questions about the CAP Template.

Meeting #4: Office Hours

Discussion of setting a community wide GHG reduction goal and overview of CAP Report Template. Bring draft CAP to office hours to be workshopped.

Now that you have a more complete list of prioritized actions, make sure all have associated partners or groups that you would like to work with to implement each action. You should be working to make a draft ready for the public engagement process.

This meeting will cover strategies and best practices when engaging your community about your CAP. Guest speakers from the Village of Nyack will discuss the outreach and engagement strategy used for their recently adopted CAP.
