BACKGROUND
New York State is working on a Comprehensive Climate Action Plan as part of a ~$3 million grant through the US EPA Climate Pollution Reduction Grant Program. The grant provides funding for the creation of a Priority Climate Action Plan and Comprehensive Climate Action Plan as well as a Status Report. These plans continue to build off of the state's existing climate work through the Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act (CLCPA), which sets climate and alternative energy goals in the state. New York State's Scoping Plan--a plan created as part of the CLCPA that includes extensive suggestions for meeting New York's climate targets--will help inform these planning efforts.
The Priority Climate Action Plan has already been completed. During this Climate Action Planning Lunch, participants are invited to provide input and share examples from their communities to inform the Comprehensive Climate Action Plan.
